Obituary of Garry George Dopson

Garry Dopson passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at the Perth Hospital on November 25, 2024 at the age of 81. Garry was predeceased by his wife and partner of 37 years, Helen. He was a caring father to his two daughters Tammy and Linda and to his four stepchildren the late Debra Hogan (Geoff Nix), Cheryl Hogan (John Atherton), Catherine Doyle (Wayne) and Jamie Hogan. Garry was the loved brother of Richard (Eva) Dopson, Linda (the late Len) Duynisveld, Nancy (the late Doug) Cameron, Billy (Peggy) Dopson, sister-in-law Arlie (the late Grant) and Darlene (the late Brent). Loving nephew of Beryl Beckett and Laura Aunger. Garry is predeceased by his parents Delmar and Grace (Beamish) Dopson, brother Robert and sister Carol Ann. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.  Garry was a well-known and respected mechanic for many decades. Nothing made him happier than lending a hand to family and friends. All you had to do was ask. And, even if you didn’t ask “Dobber” would likely show-up anyway!  The family would like to sincerely thank the staff and residents of the Carolina Retirement Residence for their kindness to Garry. He will be sadly missed and always remembered.  Family and friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 10:00 am until service in the chapel at 12:00 noon with a reception to follow.  Interment will take place following the reception at Wolford Cemetery.  In memory of Garry, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada would be appreciated or to share an act of kindness as Garry did for others throughout his life would also most appreciated.
