Brooks, Rita

At the age of 98, Rita Brooks (nee Albert) passed away peacefully November 29th, 2024
in Brockville, Ontario. Rita was predeceased by husband Arthur. She was the proud
mother of son Marc (Janice) and an even prouder grandma to Shauna (Dave Hodge) of
Perth, Jillian of Toronto and Derek (Stephanie Breda) of Mount Albert and great-
grandmother to Jaxson, Giulianna and Amelia Brooks, and Grayson Hodge. Rita was
born and raised in Hull, Quebec. She was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred and
Laurentia Albert, brothers Paul, Andre (Patricia), Fernand (Roseline) and sisters Cecile
(Gerard), Aline (Roland) and Simone (Romeo). She is survived by her sisters Marielle
(Georges - deceased) and Denise (Marcel - deceased) as well as numerous nephews
and nieces.

Rita began her career in 1953 at the Department of National Defense where she quickly
caught the eye of a young airman, Art Brooks. They married in 1954 and were posted
overseas. Upon returning to Ottawa, Rita worked for the Dominion grocery store as a
bookkeeper for many years and then re-joined National Defense until retirement. In
1972, Art and Rita moved to Perth.

Mom's greatest pleasure was spending time at the family cottage on Lake Edja. She
loved hosting family and friends where the Saturday night gathering was always the
place to be. She loved spending precious time with her grandchildren as they grew
from children to adults. Mom spent the last few years at Sherwood Park Manor in
Brockville where she was very happy.

We wish to thank the staff at Sherwood Park Manor for the wonderful care and
treatment that mom received. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Blair and
Son Funeral Directors, Perth, Ontario. In accordance with Rita's wishes, there will be                                                                                no visitation. In memory of Rita, donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated.
