Always known for being a hard-working family man, Howard spent many years farming while raising his young family, and later worked in various factories in Perth. Even with minimal education, he was a problem solver and was able to make things work with what was available to him and to learn in the process. For many years after retirement, he enjoyed his property on Christie Lake Road where he spent hours mowing all 5 acres and loved spending time in his garden. He also learned how to quilt later in life and created more than 125 beautiful and award-winning quilts. He and Doris loved to dance, and he often mentioned missing that activity as his health declined. Later in life, he faced several health issues with determination and was always grateful for the years he had.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth, on Friday, December 13th, 2024, from 11:00am until the time of Howard’s memorial service in the chapel at 1:00pm. A private interment will be held following the reception. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army Mississippi-Rideau Lakes Corps - Christmas Campaign, would be greatly appreciated.
