Obituary of Mike Johnstone

Michael Charles Johnstone - February 4, 1953 - December 17, 2024

Mike passed away peacefully in Kingston hospital  after a short illness, surrounded by his family, at the age of 71.

He was predeceased by his parents, Gord and Millie Johnstone.  Mike leaves behind his beloved children, Michelle (Steven) Kwan and Jordan (Faria) Johnstone. He was the proud “Grampa Mike” to Audrey, Violet, Hudson, and Eloise Kwan.

Mike will be missed by his siblings, Stan (Judy) Johnstone and Debbie Wilson, and fondly remembered by extended family and friends.

Born in Toronto, Mike moved to Perth when very young and was proud of the town he grew up in and called home for all of his life. Mike dedicated many years of his life to the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospitals, retiring after several decades of service, which started when he was a teenager. Known for his love of driving and chatting, he also spent several fulfilling years as a local taxi driver, where he made countless connections and shared many stories with passengers—an endeavour that ended with the pandemic.

Mike’s cheerful personality, sense of humour, and pride of his children and grandchildren will forever be cherished and remembered by those who knew him.

Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. West, Perth on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. with the service in the Chapel at 11:00 A.M.
