Obituary of Paul Trevor Hicks

Hicks, Paul Trevor

October 8, 1966 – December 30, 2024

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Trevor Hicks, on December 30th, 2024 at the age of 58. Paul was a beloved husband, father, brother, friend, and a true free spirit whose larger-than-life presence touched everyone who crossed his path.

He leaves behind his wife Margot, and his children Thomas,  Sarah, Connor, Jason and Mollie.  He was the dear grandfather of Delilah, Marley,  Harlow and Atticus, and the cherished brother of Michelle (Chris) Giacobbi. He will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Paul was a man who lived life to the fullest, with a deep passion for music, adventure, poetry and travel. His laughter brightened the lives of those around him. His sense of humor — wicked and playful, sometimes irreverent — kept everyone laughing, even in the toughest of times. While his external world radiated warmth and joy, the internal battles he faced often remained unseen. Even the strongest amongst us can be worn down by relentless struggles, and for those who loved him, it served as a poignant reminder that in all life’s complexities the brightest souls can wage battles within.

Paul’s family and friends are left with a profound sense of loss, but also with the unforgettable memories of his infectious laughter, boundless energy, and deep love for life. His journey was not defined by his struggles, but by his immense capacity for love, creativity, and joy. His light may have faded too soon, but his spirit will carry on in the music he loved, the laughter he shared, and the adventures he lived.

A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at Oakfield Rugby Park, on Saturday, January 18th, 2025 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, where friends and family will gather to remember the man who, was a beautiful, wild, and unforgettable soul. Rest in peace, Paul. You will be missed more than words can say. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Lanark County Mental Health & Addiction Services. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors, Perth.
