Obituary of Lillian Carol Joynt

LILLIAN CAROL JOYNT

Passed away peacefully in her sleep January 19, 2025 at Broadview Nursing Home, Smiths Falls at the age of 86.

She was predeceased by her parents Percy and Lera Joynt and is survived by her brother John (Mary) her sister Marsha (Steve) Sheppard as well as nephew William (Teresa) Joynt  and nieces Lisa Cross, Susan Joynt, Jessie (Dylan) Harrold and Katie (Trevor Gascoyne) Sheppard, 8 great nieces and nephews and 4 great-great nieces and nephews as well as numerous cousins.

Carol enjoyed a long career of teaching public school in Smiths Falls where she worked tirelessly in her spare time hand-making and buying extra teaching materials to benefit her students.  She volunteered with the Lombardy Agricultural Society and was often their gate keeper.  She was a qualified judge of the Ladies Homecraft Division and  judged at many local fairs.  She was an avid knitter and supplied sweaters and socks for many of her extended family.    She enjoyed her garden.   Her passion for cats, snazzy cars, shopping, spoiling her nieces and nephews and the colour purple were legendary.  Carol loved  to go to the Casino and attend Bingos.   After retirement, she enjoyed many activities with the Retired Women Teachers of Ontario and Club 55 in Rideau Lakes.  Special thanks to the Broadview Nursing Centre staff for their care and compassion given to Carol and our family.

Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.   In memory of Carol, donations to the Lombardy Agricultural Society or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
