Obituary of Murray Arthur Phillips
Murray Arthur Phillips 1939-2019
It is with great sadness that the family of Murray announces his sudden passing at the Civic Hospital, after a brief illness, on November 3rd at the age of 80 years. Beloved husband of Theresa Phillips for 62 years and dearest father of Robert (Caron), Jim (Elaine) and Gordon (Heather) and precious granddad of Jamie (Patrick), Fraser, Logan, Emily (Devin). Murray is survived by his dear sister Yvonne O’Ray along with nieces and nephew Tim (the late Sue), Tina (Gord), Kathy (Gerald). He also leaves behind his dear sister-in-law, Elaine Murphy and her children, Cathy (Eddie), Dennis and many extended relatives and friends. Murray was the proud owner of Stedman’s in Perth and so loved walking through the park of his beloved town to the store. He was an active 30 year Lion’s Club member, serving two terms as president and also a member of the Board of Directors of McMartin House. He loved spending his days playing bridge in Perth and kayaking at the cottage on Black Lake. Murray and Theresa were always up for adventures around the world, from the Galapagos Islands and Machu Picchu to the windy shores of Newfoundland.
Murray’s family and friends will join together at the Lion’s Club in Perth (corner of Halton & Arthur Streets – Perth Fairgrounds) on Sunday November 17th, 2019. A Lion’s Memorial Service and a Service to honour his life will be held at 1:00 P.M. followed by a reception until 4:00 P.M.
"We request that any donations be made to the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides at https://www.dogguides.com/donate.html, a cause very near to his heart.”
"Murray's welcoming demeanor, his kind-heartedness and generosity will be greatly missed by all”.
