Zita; I'm so very sorry for your loss. Brian & I worked together from 1995 until the end of 2006 when I retired. We kept in touch after that through our mutual friend - Chester Deron.
Brian was a lovely man - kind, soft spoken, honest and caring. He was a fabulous mentor when I was first getting involved in agricultural credit. I remember well the stories of your gardens - enough tomatoes to feed an army!! I used to be so impressed that not only did you grow all these vegetables in a backyard garden but in the fall, you harvested them and preserved them to enjoy throughout the winter. He must have been over the moon to move to Perth and have an even bigger garden to cultivate.
I remember him talking of enjoying skiing in Mont Tremblant and of his special niece - I think perhaps she lived in the Ottawa area? I remember introducing Brian to the music of Sarah Brightman - I think he really enjoyed her singing.
I will always have fond memories of Brian.
Take good care Zita - my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Kindest regards, Elaine Lawrence

What a terrible shock. Brian was a true gentleman and a wonderful human being. Brian and I have stayed in contact since he retired from CIBC but our talks were all too infrequent. Tales of boats and tractors dominated the conversation more than banking. We are so sorry for Zita and the rest of the family. Please accept the condolences of Jill and myself.

I have known Brian for 44 years--he was the brother of my loving and best friend, Gail. I have so many wonderful memories, of Brian,in Ottawa, at the cottage near Smiths Falls, where Gail and I had rented, events in Toronto and Perth and the list goes on and on. He was a great man, and super Friend, who did so many wonderful things, and was always available if one needed him. He is a huge loss to society and most of all to his wonderful wife Zita and their beutiful lab Molly. It is so difficult to absorb the fact that he has gone and I grieve very deeply. RIP Brian, love you.

I first met Brian professionally in 1991. I had the good fortune to work with him for many years afterward. Many of the files were difficult. Emotions were high and Brian, as an employee of a bank in difficult economic times, was often subjected to unfair comment. He always maintained his calm demeanour, his measured voice and his patience. He was respectful and most importantly, humane. I was proud to work with him and can honestly say that in 28 years of practising law he was my favourite client.
More importantly to me, he became my friend. I lost touch with Brian but periodically he would resurface. Occasionally one of us would call the other. When I was appointed to the bench in 2010, one of the first people I thought of was Brian. I had tried to call a few months ago but the number I had was not current. I truly regret not having connected with him. I am a better person for having known Brian. His integrity was at the highest level. His love of and pride in his family quietly stated but firmly held. His one obvious imperfection, a love of the Toronto Maple Leafs - was shared. I am so sorry for your loss.

I had the pleasure of meeting Brian (and Zita) 17 years ago. Visits to their cottage, visits to their beautiful home in Perth, and other functions in between. I thank you for always welcoming me. I was very sad to hear of the passing of Brian; Erik and Danika will miss their "Uncle-Uncle" Brian. Our prayers go to you Zita, and the rest of the family, for strength as you mourn the loss of your husband and best friend. May Brian rest in peace.

I had the privilege to work with Brian at CIBC for a number of years. His quiet diligence in the midst of sometimes difficult times in the agricultural industry set an example for myself and others who worked with Brian. He was always considerate or the needs of others. His passing is truly sad.
