Dear Diane, Mark, Craig and Ian,
Please accept my sincere condolences on the death of your dear mother. What a wonderful woman she was ~ a devoted life partner to your Dad, loving mother, and grandmother to all your family, and a dedicated, compassionate, and generous supporter of the Perth community in so many, many ways.
Although my connection to the Watson family was primarily through my work with your Dad, I appreciated your Mom very much, particularly in light of her strong support to your Dad. A few years ago, on the evening Ron was awarded an honourary diploma from Algonquin, the look on your Mom's face was one of immense pride and devotion. When your Dad spoke to me of Shirley, it was always with admiration and love.
I enjoyed hearing of their exciting travels together and was inspired by their ability to face adversity with courage and to look forward to tomorrow rather than dwell on the past.
I am sorry that I am unable to attend the service today ~ your Mom, your Dad and the rest of your family will be in my thoughts.
