Obituary of Joseph Alfred Publow

Publow, Joseph A. Veteran of WWII, Royal Canadian Navy, Life Member of Branch 244, Royal Canadian Legion, Perth, served over 40 years as director of the Perth Blue Wings. Passed away peacefully in hospital in Perth with his family by his side on Sunday July 15th, 2012 at the age of 88 years. Joe was predeceased in 2008 by his cherished wife and best friend of 61 years, Frances (Brankin) Publow. He was the loving father of David (Judy McNicol), of Brockville, Ann (Jim Buchanan), of Perth, James (Patricia Luke), of Cold Lake, Alberta, Joseph (Wendy Hoppins), of Kanata, John (Dawn Johnson), of Sherwood Park, Alberta and Patrick (Ruth Somerville), of Perth. Lovingly remembered by his 13 grandchildren Jennifer (Jeremy Harness), Geoff (Caroline Kelly), Stephen (Kay Samson) , Karen, Erika (Jordan Strilchuk), Alexis (Max Halenda), Rebecca (Jason Haughian), Joey, Jason (Leanne Darrett), Krystan, Nicholas, Katie and Patrick and his 12 great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by sisters-in-law Eileen Publow and Evelyn Publow and Margaret Goudy, all the many nieces and nephews and their families, the Brankin Family and many good friends. Joe was predeceased by sister Sr. Mary and brothers Arthur, Charles, Jack, Lawrence and William Publow. He was brother-in-law of the late Hildred and Betty Publow, John and Joan Brankin and Don Goudy. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W., Perth on Tuesday July 17th, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday from 2:00 to 9:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John's Church on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. Interment St. John's Cemetery. Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 244 will hold a Veteran's Service of Remembrance, Tuesday at 5:30 P.M. In remembrance, contributions to the Great War Memorial Hospital Foundation, St. Johns Church Memorial Fund or the Poppy Fund of Branch 244, Royal Canadian Legion would be appreciated.
