Finlayson, Esther M. Passed away peacefully at Willowdale Manor, Smiths Falls on Friday, August 17, 2012 Esther Margaret Finlayson at the age of 96. Cherished wife of the late Donald Hugh Finlayson. Loving mother of Hugh (Ann) Finlayson. Esther is also predeceased by her parents Claire and Ettie (nee Fitzpatrick) Houston, as well as her sisters Alice and Elizabeth Houston. During her long life, Esther was a proud member of the Home & School program for the Elgin Public School Association and following the birth of Hugh, she began a long career at the SFDCI Administration Office from 1960 until her full retirement in 1979. During her retirement years, one of Esther's favourite pastimes was getting together with her very good friends for a game of bridge. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service in the Chapel at 11:30 a.m. Private interment will take place at St. Andrew's Cemetery in South Lancaster, Ontario. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Anglican Church Memorial Fund or the Smiths Falls Hospital Foundation.
