Cal - we are deeply saddened by your loss. Fondest remembrance's of horsey discussions, great veggy meals, (your kidding her with "good visitor's I get to have meat to-night")- for Cheryl the horseback riding and Ottawa trips are cherished memories. We are so thankful to have known her, our heartfelt condolences

Dear Cal ~ It was with great sadness that I learned of Sharon's passing. I've missed seeing you this fall in Aquafit classes, and have long been missing Sharon's presence. What lovely memories I will always have of you both gracing my classes each week. I enjoyed our little chats and always noticed Sharon's unique jewellery. Each winter I proudly display her hand-crafted, stained glass snowflake in my window. This year will make it even more special! God bless you Cal as you carry on in your journey. I hope you will make exercising at the CP Pool a regular form of caring for yourself. I look forward to seeing you again. Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend Sharon's Memorial, however, I will be with you in prayer. With heartfelt sympathy ~ Anne Tanner and all your friends at the Pool

Cal my thoughts are with you at this sad time. I can only remember the fun we all had at parties in Lanark and seeing Sharon laughing away. Always a smile on her face. Sharon will be missed by a lot of people. Take care of yourself and hold the thought that Sharon is at peace.

I was introduced to Sharon several years ago by a mutual friend who knew I was looking for someone to go horseback riding with. My connection with Sharon was instantaneous. She didn't hesitate to invite me riding, teaching me the ropes as we went. We trail rode every inch of the land, and trails. In winter we hooked up toboggans and skis and invented new horse sports. The first horse I ever owned was sold to me by Sharon. I think that the times we spent exploring the trails near her place in McDonald's Corners were the best of my horseback-riding life. I've been living elsewhere for several years and when I heard about Sharon this past weekend form a Alan Esche I was shocked. And sent a flood of all the adventures we shared. I boarded my horse at Sharon's farm and it became a second home. Those we such good days, thanks Sharon, you taught me so much. Love, Jennifer Ring.

Be Here Now
Sharon and I met when we were entering what used to be called "middle age”, the classic time to plunge into a "middle-aged crisis”. I know I was in one! But I never saw a sign of that in Sharon. My first impression of her, despite her mischievous fun, was of a basic serenity. That never changed.
But like most of us, she was a person of contrasts. She was a domestic goddess with her beloved Aga; she was a down-to-earthiness gardener. She danced without inhibition; she meditated with tranquility. She was the centre of the crowd and enjoyed it, but she could be equally at peace in just her own company.
I once asked, as delicately as possible, whether there was anything remaining on her personal "bucket list”. I’m happy to report that the answer was ‘absolutely not!’ Sharon did what she wanted to do and accomplished what she wanted to achieve, no regrets.
Sharon had a favourite expression, consisting of only three little words: BE HERE NOW. That philosophy is not nearly as easy to live by as it sounds, but she worked carefully to cultivate that rare ability. And she achieved it better than anyone else I ever knew. Glyn and I will miss you greatly, Sharon.

Vermont Casting Ireland Trip
Our most memorable Sharon story is during the Vermont Castings Ireland trip. Each dealer rented a car and toured around Ireland for a week. The first night we stayed in a nice bed and breakfast and were disappointed that we hadn't met any other dealers. We were upstairs, looked outside and recognized friends. We ran outside to greet them and Sharon and Ricky would not stop hugging each other. This went on for more than a minute and we finally realized their earrings were stuck together!! HILARIOUS!!

Travels with Sharon and Cal
We have so many fantastic memories of Sharon. We have been lucky to visit Cal and Sharon in many locations. After meeting the great Canadians at the Vermont Castings Woodstove school in Vermont,we were together many times in parts of Ontario and in Wisconsin. Most of these 'holidays' were also with our good mutual friends Ernie and Deb from Youngs Point. We had amazing times in Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and two different weeks in Mexico.
...Sharon was in her element when she was close to the beautiful waters of the Caribbean. I think what I always missed about Sharon was her beautiful voice. Her laughter was infectious, and I can hear it as I write this. The hours we all spent together were consumed in laughter and hers will always be the best.

floating
I fondly remember floating with Sharon… on Lake Dalhousie and Lake Ontario. Especially at Wolfe Island where we girls would put out to "sea” in kiddie boats and just anchor, float, and chat in order to bond and avoid bugs. Sharon ALWAYS had to ride double since she was so light! But she always had her beautiful smile and would help us all keep smiling just by following her example. She made that and so many other things seem so very easy… Preparing a meal for a gang, hostessing unexpected company, travelling in packs at business events, nothing ever seemed to phase her or cause her any pause or anxiety. Sharon simply adjusted to the situations, changes, new twists, unexpected turns and enjoyed them as they unfolded. I have always admired and envied that lovely acceptance. I will miss her embodiment of BE HERE NOW in the future.
Love and peace Sharon

Dear Cal, My sincerest condolences for your loss. My thoughts are with you on this day. I intended to attend the funeral when the time came, but my studies did not allow me to leave the city today. Would have loved to catch up with you all, I have many fond summer memories of spending time with Sharon and yourself. Playing with barn kittens, tubing, visiting the horses and re-locating Spanky's ever-wandering old eyeball. Hope this day with all of your old friends can bring you some comfort and allow me to raise a glass to you all and propose a toast - to Sharon's contagious laugh and vibrant smile! May her love live on to surround you for all of your days. Sincerely, Melissa

Thanks to Saint Elizabeth's nurses, especially Sara Burns, Sharon was able to make her choice to die at home. The constant but not too intrusive care was better than could have been expected and her last days were brightened by their very human, caring presence. I am so grateful and only hope others can find the joy that SE help bring.
