Knowles, James Arthur 'Art' (P Eng). In hospital, in Perth in the presence of his loved ones on Sunday, January 25th, 2009 J. Arthur Knowles (retired engineer, Town of Perth, founder of Lilac and Hillside Apartments, Lanark, served numerous volunteer and municipal positions, active member of First Baptist Church, Lanark and Gideon's and served as a volunteer worker in Haiti, Burundi, Sri Lanka and Japan) at the age 77 years. Dearly loved husband of Evelyn Stewart. Loved and respected father of Paul (Jean Kerr) and Ruby (Barry Johnstone). Cherished Grandpa to Stewart, Stacey and Lindsay. Dear brother of Don (Corenne); predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Laura (McClure) Knowles. He will be sadly missed by Evelyn's brothers and sisters and his numerous nieces and nephews. Art will be fondly remembered by many colleagues, neighbours and friends. A private funeral service and interment in Pine Grove Cemetery will be held for the family. Everyone is asked to join in a Memorial Service to remember and celebrate Art's life in St. Andrew's United Church, Lanark on Thursday, January 29th, 2009 at 2:30 P.M. followed by a time of fellowship in St. Andrew's Church Hall. In remembrance, contributions in Art's memory to the Lanark Baptist Church or Gideon Bible Society would be appreciated.
