Unassuming, humble, humorous, and he did it all in a quiet manner, that was the man, that was my Uncle Donnie. He and Aunt Eileen were an inseparable couple, doing everything together like two lovebirds. To me, seeing that grey Oldsmobile Cutlass or their truck pull beside Grandpa and Grandpa’s house, Uncle Donnie and Aunt Eileen were bringing a great funny and warm visit with them. Uncle Donnie was the great horseman. He told me how he used his team of horses to pull the Middileville hearse and always had a funny joke about how the commuters never had any complaints! I’ll miss going fishing with him and Grandpa. Uncle Donnie’s humor shook the boat. A good measure of how revered a person was is how many people remember them through their memories of days past. I’m so grateful that I have the memories to share of this sublime and genuine man that I was so lucky to know and to spend time with.
