Obituary of John Kimble Hamilton Abbott
Abbott, J. K. 'Kim'
On November 16, 2010 John Kimble Hamilton Abbott died at the age of 89 in Perth, Ontario surrounded by his family. "Kim" was a veteran of World War II in which he served as a bomber pilot in the famous 407 "Demon Squadron" of the RCAF. Following the war, he devoted his career to public service first as a civil servant and later as author, lobbyist and political commentator. A proud Canadian to the last, he was a direct descendant of the first Canadian born Prime Minister Sir John Abbott and Father of Confederation Col. John Hamilton Gray. He is survived by his loving wife Joan "Bunty" (nee Garland), devoted daughter Susan (Bill) and son John (Heather), grandsons Matthew (Allison), Daniel (Paula), Richard and Patrick and great grandchildren Lachlan, Channing, Caspar and Nicholas. Funeral service will be held in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Merrickville on Monday, November 22nd, 2010 at 11am. The family is grateful to Louise Jacek and many others who were invaluable to Kim. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Canadian Alzheimer Association would be appreciated.
