Father
My father was a big man in many ways, Big in stature, Big in personality etc.... I can remember growing up and looking up at him was like looking up a a real live giant.
My dad was a good man, he was smart, hard working, and talented. I use to LOVE to listen to him play his guitar and sing. When dad and Aunt Laura would play together it was heavenly. I have a home made cassette of one Christmas when Dad, Uncle Danner, Aunt Laura, and Mom got together playing guitars, singing, laughing, joking it brings back such happy moments. (Told Dad I had this cassette and was going to make a CD from it for him, he past before I had a chance ) Some of my favorite childhood memories are the pair of them just jamming together.
Some of my proudest moments was to watch him playing on stage with the Rhythm Riders with (Murray, Charlie, Floyd, Uncle Johnny, and Dad.)
Dad Loved us the best way he knew how, no there wasn't a lot of mushy huggy kissie, but he housed, clothed, feed, and guided us. Yes, Dad had his short comings and made mistakes. But WE all have short comings and WE ALL make mistakes.
My Dad and I haven't always been close, but I have always LOVED my Father with all of my heart. I wouldn't be the strong independent person I am today if it hadn't been for Dad, for that I will always be grateful. It means everything to me that Dad and I over the last 6 years were becoming closer. I only wish we would have had more time !
Love you Dad, Miss our chats
