Obituary of Tom Foulkes

Foulkes, Thomas Allen

It is with great sadness that the family of Thomas Allen Foulkes announces his sudden passing December 10, 2020. He slipped away at home in his sleep and has gone to join his beloved wife, Patricia (nee Read). Loving father of Donna Foulkes (Jim) of Georgetown, Melanie (John) of Peterborough and Matthew (Ninfa) of Nicaragua. He will be loved and remembered by his grandchildren Jack, Mark, Nate, Sam and Benjamin. Survived by his brother David (Dale) of Ottawa. Tom's professional life spanned the Canadian experience. He began in the forestry industry, working in New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario and spent many years involved in the pulp and paper business. He was a management consultant and auditor which led to a career travelling across the country as a member of the federal public service. Tom was a big presence - not just his physical stature, but also his presence in our lives and in the life of this community. We will remember and hold dear his unwavering principles, his wish for us to succeed and his unfailing support for us to follow our individual paths. We will cherish the memories we shared of summers spent at the cottage. Tom gave many hours of his time and talent to numerous organizations and activities devoted to the support and betterment of his community. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls, on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, due to the current Covid Guidelines in Lanark, Leeds & Grenville, those wishing to attend the funeral home to visit with the family are asked to email smithsfalls.chapel@blairandson.com or call 613-283-2800 in advance of attending the visitation to confirm attendance. Services in celebration of Tom’s life will be held privately for the family at Trinity United Church, Smiths Falls. Interment will take place in the spring. In honour of Tom's life, memorial donations may be made to one of the many community associations he gave his time to. Some of which are, the Smiths Falls Public Library, REAL, Trinity United Church, Smiths Falls Station Theatre, The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital. He has also established the Thomas Foulkes Scholarship Fund at the University of New Brunswick.
