As a young teenager with her first puppy to care for in 1966, Dr Stewart introduced me to the responsibility and life long joy of caring for a dog. He was a kind and gentle soul who always had the time to explain and educate me along this journey. I am glad that he and Mrs Stewart had such a wonderful, full 30+ years of retirement to savour the golden years together with their family. I know they certainly were great neighbours to my in-laws, Alan and Irene O'Dell on the Brockville highway. Whenever my husband Ernie would see Dr Stewart he would always inquire about the latest dog that we had, remembering the great affection for them that he instilled in me. Heaven has a new special angel who lived his life well and was a credit to his chosen profession. Rest in Peace Dr Stewart, you are truly remembered with affection for a job well done! I was sorry to hear of Fred's passing. He practiced neighbouring both myself, (in Carleton Place), and my father, (in Perth), and relationships were always cordial. I even took a Spanish class with him.
Fond memories of our interactions.
Well respected.

Dr Stewart was a true gentleman a mentor to all . His clients and friends appreciated everything he did for them . Doc told me as a young vet student that " if you can put your boots on at night you will make a good veterinary " I feel he directed many students to "be the best you can " . To the Stewart family my deepest sympathy from Perth Veterinary Clinic

I was honoured to become a partner with Dr. Stewart in 1977 after working for him for 2 years. I could not have asked for a better mentor to become a dedicated veterinarian to our clients and our patients. I always respected his loyalty to Mrs. Stewart and to the other staff at Smiths Falls Veterinary Services. It was with a sad heart that I heard of his passing and Michelle & I and our family express our condolences to Mrs. Stewart and the Family.
