I remember the first time that I hear Norm. It was September of 2009. He and Ian Sutton were so good together on the radio. I emailed a message to Lake 88 telling them how enjoyable I found the morning program to be. I live in Pennsylvania so I only got to hear Lake 88 for one week out of the year. I friend who lived on Otty Lake at the time contacted me and told me that Norm read my email on the air. I was floored! I contacted him and we became friends. The following October, I once again made my yearly trip (I've been going there since 1978) to Otty Lake. A car was parked at the end of the road leading to the cottage that I stay at. It followed me all the way to the cottage. When I got out the gentleman driving said "you must be Dave" and upon hearing his voice I responded you must be Norm. That is when and how I met Norm. We stayed in touch over the phone. He was a very special person and I am honored to have known him. My deepest condolences to you Claudette and the rest of your family.

Claudette, I was a student and friend of Norm's at Algonquin back in the 70s. You and I met at least a couple of times when he invited us out to the pontoon boat on Otty Lake. When I was a student in the sixties in Quebec City, Norm was a super entertainer on CKMI TV and then on CFOM Radio. He once made an open mail contest to predict in mid August the exact highest degree of temperature to be reached in Quebec City on September 1st. I was not the winner, but I sent two letters with the exact answer in both predicting 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
"Thanks Norm for the joyful summer time and all year entertainment. I just happened to think of you while hearing the old song In The Summertime that you played regularly on Saturdays on your music and dance show for teens. No wonder you became a good teacher afterwards, and a great asset for your family." My best regards to you all in this time of sadness.
