Kevin, Sandra, Ireland and Ashton: I want you to know that I hold you in my thoughts and heart as you grieve the loss of a father and grandfather. Kevin, I didn't know your Dad well but I know the good person you are and that has to be, at least in part, a gift from your father. Carl's school years at St. John's were made easier and happier because of your Dad. I am sorry for your loss.
My sympathies, Pat Cairns

To know Tom was to love him. As a young girl we lived across from the school, and he was a great friend to all children. He took my younger brother under his wing to show him the ropes of his job.May you find comfort in the fact that he was a man that people thought well of.

The most wonderful custodian who was such an amazing person. I’ll always look back fondly at my days at St. John’s elementary. He would always help us get balls off the roof, flood the skating rink, and poured his heart and soul into his work, truly touching the hearts of each and every student.

Sincere sympathies to the Kerr family on the passing of a father, grandfather, and uncle. I was at St Johns as a student and a teacher and knew Tom through it all. Tom was a character but you could always depend on him to help when asked. He cared for St John’s but more than that he cared for the students. “Tom’s Boiler Room”, was a place of meetings, laughter and stories! I will remember Tom for many things but especially for his love of the St John community. Great memories! God bless him always.

Our hearts go out to the Kerr family. Tom was a kind hearted, entertaining soul who not only cared for the building, but for the staff and students of St. John’s as well. He was a keen observer of what was going on and offered his colourful wisdom, insight and advice to all. Most times he was right!
He will be missed.

My deepest sympathy to the Kerr family. Tom was one-of-a-kind. I'd heard of him long before I became Principal at St. John’s. Over my years at the school I attended many in-service sessions at the Board office, but I never learned as much there as I did at my “boiler room” sessions with Tom. His wisdom, his kindness, his ability to speak his mind and stand up for those he felt were being put down, made him a truly remarkable individual. He's gone now, but his legacy will live on and we will all be better people for having known him.
