To Betty's Family from Linda & Hans:
My time with Betty and Jack was spent laughing, talking and making plans for the future. When we first moved in Fred & I called them the Newly Weds, along with Al & Isabel. As they both were on a 2nd marriage as the first one was fantastic they wanted to repeat it. I remember Fred helping Greg bring in the jogging track so Jack could keep in shape for all the 'strange activities' Betty wanted him to participate in, at leas that was Fred's story and I know if he was still with us he would say "that is my story and I'm sticking to it!"
Betty got us involved in shuffleboard as an outing and we have never been treated so kindly, or shown so much kindness, mostly initiated by Jack and Betty. At that time we met Hans, who has been a kind and caring soul to me when Fred passed and his wife went into care. Both Jack and Betty were so supportive to both of us in our time of need and healing.
When Hans and I went to visit Betty this Spring during the pandemic, Betty had a whole itinerary planned for us to tour around and see all the wonderful places in Smith Falls. Her ability to play hostess and prepare a meal for 5 of us was amazing. There hasn't been a day that went by that I haven't thought of her and missed her immensely.
My prayers go out to all of Betty's Family but most of all REMEMBER THE GOOD TIMES YOU HAD WITH HER!
Love & Kisses Linda & Hans

Pam Greg & Family.
So sorry to hear of your mom's passing. Betty was a super neighbour and good conversationalist (at times twice). Her love of animals featured in a lot of our chats especially when she saw me in my camo gear. We have a lot of fond memories and will raise a glass tomorrow.
Sincere condolences Tony & Sue Johnston. #59

Betty and I never actually got to be neighbours on Van Home Ave., although when I arrived on Oct 4th, 2020 she still lived next door to me. I fell and was taken to hospital on Oct. 7th for reconstructive surgery. Was there for 12 days and then moved to Chartwell on Van Horne. I think it was about the second week after I arrived that Pam recognized me passing by and announced that Betty was moving in shortly. I was indeed blessed with her assignment to my lunch and dinner meals where we shared the same table. She brought a tremendous wit to the table and her eyes sparkled as she captivated the hearts of myself and the 2,other men with whom she shared the table. We laughed a lot, gently teasing her about silly things that only friends can come up with and Betty held her own within that group as she was quickly welcomed and cared for by all of us. I will miss Betty and her stories but mostly her ability to laugh uproariously at herself and the evolving situations wherein she found herself of late. God bless you all! You had much more time with her then we did. And I envy you those wonderful memories, you were truly blessed to have lived alongside such a wonderfully thoughtful personality. I will miss her! Betty is such a sweetheart and full of positivity. Her wit, presence and smile will be truly missed at Van Horne. There's this one night where I listened to her stories which amazes me. She called me "adapted son" and I called her "mom" and we started laughing.
Though our words can do little, we hope our thoughts and prayers will support everyone at this time. Please accept my deepest sympathy and sincere condolences. May the soul of Betty find eternal rest in paradise. Our prayers. - RJ
