To Julie, Heather, and the entire Suffel family:
It was with great sadness that I heard the news of Mr. Suffel’s passing. He was, as we Irish would say, a lovely man. The leader of his family, a successful businessman, and a pillar of the town of Smiths Falls.
On behalf of my parents, J. Patrick and Huguette, my brothers, Patrick, the late Michael, and Matthew, and myself, please accept the heartfelt condolences of the Hanrahan family.
J.J. Hanrahan

An Enduring Friendship

Stan and I first met in October 1950 in grade 7, at what was then “Center Ward School”, when my family moved to Smiths Falls. He was one of the first, if not the first, to befriend the new kid in school. We have been friends ever since.

Stan and I both dated nurses (Elaine and Shirley) from the Civic hospital in Ottawa, and Stan was my best man when Elaine and I were married.

Although usually separated by many miles over the past fifty-five plus years, we always managed to get together occasionally to share war stories, catch up on our adventures and those of mutual friends and family, hit a golf ball or try to catch a fish. Stan was a great listener and sounding board whose input I always appreciated.

There are way too many happy memories to try to share here, suffice to say that I cherish those memories and I am so glad that I knew him.
