I just recently found out that Iona had passed in 2023. She was my first Cousin on my Mother’s Side. We were always in contact with each other for many years. Visits and phone calls with her and Robert. After going to Robert!s funeral, Iona and I took turns calling at least once a month long distance. At one point I wasn’t getting answers and cards were returned in the mail. I tried tracing where she was, tried several nursing homes in the Ottawa Area, but since there was no longer immediate family was unable to get any information from Nursing or retirement homes in Ottawa. Several times I checked with Your Funeral Home and just recently saw it. If there are any Nephews or Nieces out there my heart is with you as she was a very loving woman who would do anything for folks, Iona you have always been in my thoughts. May you and Robert be happy together in Heaven. your Cousin Dianne (Spragg) Dempsey.

Iona loved jokes and fun. Her wonderful smile welcomed everyone she met. She always spoke lovingly of her siblings and their families. She and Bob were friendly and good neighbours to us in Greely. She was the best neighbor when I lived in Greely, she would always call me over to see the new kittens or cat she had rescued. When I was little she would let me pick her 649 numbers and I would watch her make beautiful quilts. I still have my Smurf quilt, and it's my favorite thing in the whole world. Rest in peace Iona, you truly will be missed. From Corrie Clark

I am very saddened by learning of Ionas passing.She was my next door neighbor when growing up on the farm always smiling and joking she was going to run off and marry me one day and as a Lil kid would believe her,however she went on to marry a good man and led a long and happy life. The last time I saw her was was June 20th 2015 at my brother's celebration of ice,that night I stayed over at her house and left for calgary next morning rest in peace my friend.

It was with sadness we heard of Aunt Iona's passing. Fond memories of her and my grandmother taking me to my first time bingo experience. she got so excited when she won. Enjoyed her company and the family bbq's in Greely. she was a true fan of stray cats and her beloved senator's. rest in peace.
