Hello I’m not sure if your family remembers me. It’s Michelle Vanderheyden (now Scott) and I worked for your Dad when had the Dixie Lee Restaurant. Your Dad was kindest person I have ever worked for. He hired me on the spot when I was looking for work when I could not find anything in my chosen career. He knew my time would be brief there but I absolutely loved working for him. I still make the homemade rolls / coleslaw that he taught me to make. I also remember he always had a “hello” for everyone that came into the restaurant. He was sad the day I found a job at Brockville General but was so supportive when I left. As you can see I still remember his kindness and caring nature. My utmost sympathy for you all ❤️

My sincere condolences to you all. I got to know Hack when I was a kid and he came to stay with us when he worked up in the GTA. Enjoyed the jokes, and the treats he always brought back! He was a bit of a trickster, friendly and kind- always. Much love to you all during this difficult time.

Dear Marg and family, please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of Bill. I have many fond memories of Hack. We use to do many deals way back when he worked at Inter Royal or Croyden . He worked the barter system very well. I also cherished his passion for nicknames as other people have mentioned. Playing hockey in Lanark on Sundays and golfing at the golf club were also a big part of Bills passion and I enjoyed every minute being part of that. I’m sorry we will not be able to attend his celebration of life as we are not due home until later this month but you guy’s will definitely be in our heart and prayers. Love to all and farewell to a very dear friend. Larry and Theresa McIntosh

Dear Margie & Family
Chris and I are saddened to learn that your "Sweet William" has gone out of your sight and hearing.
Bill was the genuine article and endeared himself to all who crossed his path.
It must have been his glowing personality blended with his usual dose of comic relief.
On other days he certainly lived up to his name "GRUMPY HANSON". It just made you love him more. We are going to miss him.
And Margie, no man would ever leave you unless they were most assuredly going to Heaven.
God bless you and your family at this sad time in your lives.
Love Kevin & Chris

Please accept my sincere condolences on Bill’s passing. In the 1960’s the Smiths Falls Golf Club had a robust junior program. I signed up to play in the Junior/Senior event and Mr. Hanson signed up to be my partner. When we met on the first tee of my first tournament ever he announced” okay swing away Porkey”. That was the beginning of a life long friendship and a nickname that only he would use for decades to follow. It is a testament to Bill that his smooth swing and love of golf has been passed on to his grandson.

To Marg and family, our condolences from Marilyn Cox, Terry (Sarah), Tim (Kelly) and Randy (Catherine), and our kids. We're sorry to hear about your loss and wishing you all well in this tough time. Dad always said if you wanted to find Hammy on a Sunday afternoon, look for him under a shade tree in Exhibition park, waxing and polishing his car! Us kids were always amazed at the stories of the beach in the Model T and Motivator car club days! Rest in peace Ham.

Marg & Family - we were truly saddened to learn of Bill’s passing. He was a unique, one of a kind individual and one that will be missed by many. Like Jim “Bondo” Barnett, Bill had a personal nickname for me that stuck for over 50 years. He called me Dolls which he said had something to do with the Louis Armstrong song, Hello Dolly. Whenever our paths would cross on the First tee or at the tire shop he would greet me with “Hello Dolls” and l would respond with “Hello Hacker”. (I think it was Ward Foss that stuck Bill with the “Hacker” nickname). Keep your memories of him close to comfort you. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Ron & Louise Dolinki
