Great lady, Elsie did payroll for the Town of Perth, I would wear a T-shirt on pay days that said “my take home pay won’t even take me home, she would chuckle

I knew Elsie when I first became a member of the GWM Hospital Auxiliary in 1996. She started our tourtiere fundraiser making 9 pies with two other volunteers in 1991, and we made 1000 pies the year before Covid stopped us. She wasn't part of the tourtiere team when I took over but always bought pies and supported us. She was a lovely lady. My sympathy to all the family,
Marty McGuinness

I have so many fond and precious memories. Gramma was very kind and loving and had an incredible sense of humour. I always looked forward to her birthday and holiday cards and notes as I always felt unconditional love from her and admired her penmanship. She was intelligent, keeping up with current events and discussions in the political news and was always an avid reader. She was always reading something, be it pulp, fiction or non-fiction; she had a sense of curiosity and compassion for the world and others. One of my fondest memories was when we watched Bette Davis movies together until the early morning hours. We would sometimes pause the film to analyze the scenes and find the satire and campiness in them, where we would be in hysterics. She was always cheering me on when I pursued post-secondary education. She was always interested in the social science classes I enrolled in, and we would discuss some of the courses to make sense of social psychological phenomena. She was proud I was the first in the family to achieve a Master of Arts degree. She would be proud that I am halfway through accomplishing a post-doctoral degree at Simon Fraser University. She meant the world to me as she was a strong, loving, kind, classy, intelligent, and witty human who touched many lives. I will miss her greatly and am grateful she was my Gramma. May she rest in peace in heaven: All My Relations, Andrew.

Goodbye Grandma.
While saddened at your passing, I feel lucky to have had as much time with you as I did.
Whether it was a political discourse, a late-night game of euchre or a big piece of your homemade raspberry pie, it was always a pleasure spending time with you. These memories and more are things I’ll carry with me.
Thank you.

Oh so sorry to hear - my sincere condolences to Elsie's family. I knew her from working at the Town Hall in Perth. She took me under her wing and was a great lady to work with. May God keep her in his care now and am so glad I knew this sweet lady.

Janice, Jim, Barry and families. I’d like to offer my sincerest condolences to all of you along with Elsie’s extended family.
I have many very fond memories of growing up in Lanark while visiting my beloved sister, Gloria and her husband, Jim Darou.
Whenever I was in Lanark, you could bet Jim, Barry and I were together. Elsie would always ensure a visit was in order when myself and family visited. She was as sharp as a knife and brilliant to talk with. Sadly, since Gloria passed away, I haven’t been back to Lanark. I know that you’ve all made many great memories over the years with your Mom… that being said, I hope that those memories comfort you all during this very difficult time.
With love, Dave Brown

Sincere condolences to the Caldwell family on the loss of your mother.
I've quite a few memories of Elsie in my younger years. She was a good friend of my grandmother Mary and also my parents, Donnie and Audrey. She was a big part of our community in Tatlock!
Grandma worked with Elsie at the mill in Lanark. A lot of laughs shared. My father respected her so and they both loved chatting about politics and other municipal matters.
Our family really missed Elsie when she left the community. They enjoyed when she'd visit.
Cherish the memories you've made with your mother! She will be remembered fondly.

Our heartfelt thoughts are with the Caldwell-Darou families at this time. I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunity to share in a small part of Elsie's and Carmen's life journey. As a life-long friend of the family, I recall going to the Caldwell homestead many times during my adolescent years. Elsie and Carmen always treated me as one of their own. This memory is one I will always treasure. Barry, Jim and Janice...you are family to me.
