Thomas Scott Brownell
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Thomas Scott Brownell on December 1, 2024, at the Carleton Place General Hospital, at the age of 78. Born on November 27, 1946, He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend, Faith (Faye) Horne Brownell, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship. Tom is also survived by his siblings: Jim (Paulette), Cathy (Clarke) MacDonell, Roy, Larry (Sue), Terry (Denise), Bill (Ruby), and Dorothy Gellately (Ross); his in-laws: Vale, Don Scissons, and Alan Neville; and cherished members of the Horne family: Neil (Grace), Bradley (and the late Carol Ann),James (Marlene), and Karen King (RJ Ferguson). Tom was predeceased by his parents, Earle and Catherine Brownell, his brother John, and his sisters Mary, Betty, and Judy. A devoted uncle, Tom was dearly loved by his many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Tom dedicated his life to education and community service, leaving an indelible mark as a lifelong teacher and active participant in countless community initiatives. His warmth, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to others will be deeply missed.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church in Perth, Ontario on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 10:00 am with Christian burial at Elmwood Cemetery following cremation at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Tom's memory.
He will forever be in our hearts, remembered for his generosity, kindness, humour and the lives he touched.
