Lay, Elizabeth "Beth" (neé Johnston) April 22, 1923 ~February 28, 2012 Peacefully passed away with her family at her side at the Perth Hospital on Tuesday, February 28th, 2012. Predeceased by husbands J.C. (Peter) Viets and R. Adm. Horatio Nelson Lay. Loving sister of Maxine (Bruce) Bennett. Loving mother of John (Marti) and Robert (Leslie) Viets; Mary (Peter) Gibson; James (Lorraine) and Charles (Sylvie) Lay. Predeceased by her stepson David survived by his wife Ann. Cherished grandmother of Aspen (Bernie), Yarrow (Brooke), Lindsay(Jeff), Heidi, Emily (Nick) and Peter Viets; Kevin, Nelson and Cameron Lay; Evan Gibson and predeceased by Ashley Gibson, her great grandchildren Owen and Sadie, Marek and Brody. Beth will also be fondly remembered by all her extended family and friends. She will be remembered for her generous community involvement with May Court Club of Ottawa and Lanark County Interval House. Beth loved being a world traveler, an avid member of the NAC, the Book Club, being out of doors, hiking, gardening and spending time at her cottage retreat. Friends are invited to celebrate Beth's life on Saturday May 5th, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth. Family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Lanark County Interval House or the GWM Hospital Foundation in Perth. Family interment in St. John's Norway Cemetery (Toronto) at a later date
